Derek Rafter

I am a novice member of Malahide Camera Club for almost 1 year now.
My favourite areas of photography are street, landscape and black & white.
The ability to capture a moment in time using light so making it timeless is what draws me to photography.

I hope to improve my photography skills as a member of the club.

Deer

While walking through the Phoenix Park, I came across this herd of deer relaxing and grazing amongst the trees. They were oblivious to anyone around. If you look closely, each deer is doing something different and hopefully this image conveys some insight into their lives.

Its not recommended to get too close to deer or any wildlife so i had to zoom in from a safe distance and crop it.

NY Crossing

Street photography is a genre which describes capturing the essence of life on the streets. This image at a crossroads in Manhattan has a lot going on. People waiting, chatting, crossing. Traffic waiting with subway steam rising among them, to me gives a sense of the hustle and bustle of New York. I created it as a B&W image to bring a darker, night-time moody feeling to the scene.
