Paul Raftery LIPF

I aim to capture elements of landscape, seascape or architecture in relation to everything around it.

With my background in graphic design, I view the world around us exploring lines, shadows, symmetry, patterns, etc. The shapes that are created from these component parts construct a composition that isn’t immediately visible.

Different quality of light can soften flat surfaces or define and exaggerate them into something dramatic.

Ewe will Cross that Bridge

A shot taken by the shore of Lough Inagh in Connemara where the sheep are very curious and are found wandering the roads and landscape.

It was worth stepping down to the river under the level of the bridge – it created a more dramatic angle.

Towering Over the Bridge

An apartment block taken from under bridges in Valencia, Spain.

The arcs of the roads lead the eye towards the vertical building.

The image was given a black and white fine-art treatment to add some extra drama!
